Summary

From comedian Ginny Hogan, this laugh-out-loud collection of humor observations explores all the ups and downs of modern romance。

Through hilarious, absurd-yet-relatable short stories, quizzes, over-think pieces, and more, Hogan details every stage of a modern relationship—from meeting on an app to becoming official, to breaking up or getting married, to being single。

Find out how to successfully ignore any and all red flags。 Take a quiz to see if that anxiety attack you're having means you're in a new relationship or if it's that cold brew you just chugged。 Read chilling tales about the unfortunate few who actually did lose their phones (they didn't mean to ghost you, they promise)。

Begging to be shared with friends or sat next to your phone full of Tinder notifications, I'm More Dateable than a Plate Of Refried Beans is the ultimate humor book for anyone who is dating or has ever dated。

LAUGH-OUT-LOUD HUMOR FOR ALL: This hilarious book has a little something for everybody, whether you're single, dating, married, monogamous, polyamorous—you name it!

Ginny articulates the highs and lows of dating so poignantly yet hysterically。 It had similar vibes to "how to date men when you hate men"。 It was a really wonderful book that examines modern dating culture through a unique lens。 would recommend! Honestly Ginny, I think we're both more dateable than a plate of refried beans。 I'm on a date with a plate of refried beans this very second and I am not enjoying myself。 Infact I got so bored that I went online book shopping for help on this predicemant I find myself in and encountered your book。I'm glad I'm not the only one that dislikes going on dates with plates of refried beans。 Honestly Ginny, I think we're both more dateable than a plate of refried beans。 I'm on a date with a plate of refried beans this very second and I am not enjoying myself。 Infact I got so bored that I went online book shopping for help on this predicemant I find myself in and encountered your book。I'm glad I'm not the only one that dislikes going on dates with plates of refried beans。 。。。more

Dating is ancient history for me but Ginny opens a very funny time portal to the today times。 Her openness on the socials works well in book form。 Short and sweet, like most romantic relationships。 At least hers。

A sparkling wit, a twisted outlook on life, and zippy one liners make it a great way to spend a Friday afternoon。 Thanks for brightening an otherwise dull day

I follow Ginny on Twitter and picked up the book for a friend as a way to support。 It is now a used book for a friend。 Ms Hogan is to dating as Emily Post is to etiquette。 Except Ginny is funny。 Highly recommend!

A very funny and occasionally slightly depressing reminder of why dating is so exhausting。 If you're familiar with Ginny Hogan's stand-up, you'll be ready for the combination of wit and self deprecating tone。 Also I learned a couple of things, like what DTR means。 A very funny and occasionally slightly depressing reminder of why dating is so exhausting。 If you're familiar with Ginny Hogan's stand-up, you'll be ready for the combination of wit and self deprecating tone。 Also I learned a couple of things, like what DTR means。 。。。more

If you have used a dating app in the last decade this is the book for you。 It's a fun read that will keep you laughing the whole way through with Ginny's stories, lists and quizzes about the hurdles of modern dating。 A fantastic satire that reminds me of the sharp wit of George Carlin and the clever humor of Christopher Moore。 I'm More Dateable than a Plate of Refried Beans is a thoroughly enjoyable read! I really enjoyed this book— super funny and relatable。 I do wish there had been more personal stories as opposed to joke essays and writings。 Those personal bits can be more relatable and endearing/you learn so much more about a person that way。 Overall very enjoyable。

Hogan fills her book with her quirky and original humorous take on modern dating, including dating apps because "[y]our chosen dating app may well be the longest relationship of your adult life"。 From her not-so-scientific experiment of testing personal photos against a photo of refried beans on Tinder (the origin of the title), a snarky quiz on which dating app is right for you, a fictional piece on God herself creating a dating app based on Google search history (it does not go well), and a gu Hogan fills her book with her quirky and original humorous take on modern dating, including dating apps because "[y]our chosen dating app may well be the longest relationship of your adult life"。 From her not-so-scientific experiment of testing personal photos against a photo of refried beans on Tinder (the origin of the title), a snarky quiz on which dating app is right for you, a fictional piece on God herself creating a dating app based on Google search history (it does not go well), and a guide to how to ignore red flag statements while dating, Hogan is very funny, creative, and clearly shows she spends way too much time online。Its structure is essentially a set of essays / quizes / infographics, making it easy to consume in short bursts whenever you need a good laugh。Whether you're active on dating apps, have given up on dating, have successfully partnered up, just enjoy sexual innuendo, or just work in tech (she casually slips in self-driving cars and the word "petabyte"), I recommend this quirky read for a good laugh。 。。。more

After following Ginny on Twitter I knew I liked her comedy。 So I got her book hoping to find more of the same。 I was absolutely right。 It's my first comedy book and I think it's opened up an entirely new genre for me。 Buy this book and laugh your ass off, that's an order。 After following Ginny on Twitter I knew I liked her comedy。 So I got her book hoping to find more of the same。 I was absolutely right。 It's my first comedy book and I think it's opened up an entirely new genre for me。 Buy this book and laugh your ass off, that's an order。 。。。more

I didn’t know Ginny Hogan wrote books。 I didn’t even know she did standup comedy。 I just knew her from those hilarious (and absolutely always relatable) tweets she screenshots for instagram (look, I’m a very specific version of Millennial that’s not on twitter, but always on Insta。 Or on a dating app。) In this book, Ginny had captured the essence of those hilarious tweets and made it into a book。 It’s very pretty to look at and I mainly wanted it to display it on my coffee table (not that I have I didn’t know Ginny Hogan wrote books。 I didn’t even know she did standup comedy。 I just knew her from those hilarious (and absolutely always relatable) tweets she screenshots for instagram (look, I’m a very specific version of Millennial that’s not on twitter, but always on Insta。 Or on a dating app。) In this book, Ginny had captured the essence of those hilarious tweets and made it into a book。 It’s very pretty to look at and I mainly wanted it to display it on my coffee table (not that I have one yet, but a girl can dream) to casually browse through and show off。 But then I actually read it cover to cover because it was so, so, so painfully spot on about the dating experience of people like me (hint: I’m 33 and live in NYC。 It’s a disaster zone)。 Each chapter goes through the various stages of grief uhm sorry I meant online dating - from setting up your dating profile to early dating and the dangers of social media, to breakups to deciding to stay single forever (and being judged by all your friends who are getting married)。 I loved the various formats she chose, and chuckled every time I recognised a joke from twitter-Insta, and generally was absolutely entertained while reading this book。 The kinda “giggle constantly and occasionally snort out loudly, much to the surprise of the older gentlemen sitting next to you on the subway/ in the park/ in a cafe)” way of entertained。 Maybe don’t read this book in public if you don’t want to get those looks。 Things I learned: there’s a soul mate waiting out there for me (but I’ve probably swiped left on him because he’s too short), what to say to my spouse should I accidentally find myself dating a prince, that i definitely need my own Roomba, and most importantly: that I shouldn’t settle because if my stories about failed dating are only half as funny as Ginny’s, I’d have reached peak hilarity。 。。。more

Excellent read。 It makes me very happy that I do not have to date in this weird era of dating apps。 It's riddled with snarky observations, but still explains really well how to navigate your way through this digital lovefest。 Visually it's also great, it's not a bland how-to book without graphical substance。 I'm happy I had a chance to read it。 Visiting the US in a few months, I might just book a show!
